A bit about me.
I’m a digital product designer based in the Bay Area with a unique and successful background in structural engineering. I aim to leverage my technical and precision-forward mindset to craft purposeful and accessible user experiences.
I draw from a toolbox of transferable skills
During my tenure as a structural engineer, I developed many skills that are directly transferable to the realm of design – meticulous attention to detail, a methodical approach to complex problem-solving, and an ability to translate technical concepts into clear, user-friendly plans. Throughout my engineering career, I practiced a highly collaborative approach in order to adapt to continuously evolving project specifications, ensuring my team and I provided high-quality deliverables within deadlines, budgets, and client expectations.
I identified a need for change
My interest for architectural aesthetic paired with a passion for STEM is what initially drew me to structural engineering. I had hoped to blend the two, but upon finding that my creative itch wasn’t being scratched, I’ve found digital product design as an avenue to make a more direct and emotionally impactful affect on people and to exercise my creativity in a professionally fulfilling context. Having also struggled with finding diversity in my previous career, I have a special place in my heart for facilitating DEI environments not only in my surroundings, but in my work as well. I’m always learning how to effectively implement these principles into user interfaces and experiences.
Communication is the cornerstone of my design philosophy
As a product designer with a technical mindset, I habitually consider consistency and scalability within digital experiences - both things that require complex communication across teams to properly implement. Thinking about my design philosophy, I find that communication is the driving force behind my intentions as a designer. It presents itself in all aspects of design, whether that’s in working with developers to better understand processes and practicality, being able to articulate how research findings inform design decisions, or presenting initiatives in a visual and engaging manner. I’m a designer who aims to make communication the cornerstone of my practice, and by doing so, I facilitate a successful path towards thoughtful and purposeful design solutions.
